George Ionita
George, who was working for the UN when he completed his first technical dive training with us, was later stationed in Thailand were he continued his training with Steve Burton. Recently George completed his Advanced and Explorer Trimix certifications with Mark Ellyatt in Dahab. (Here he rescued a convulsing diver and received commendations from DAN Europe.) He joined Mark on an expedition to the wreck of the Victoria off Lebanon in February 2008. After being impressed with Mark's Pelagian rebreather he then convinced Mark to come to Dive Aqaba and run a course on the unit for the tec team here in March 2008.George sponsored Rod Abbotson to complete his instructor course on the Pelagian with Mark Ellyatt in Aqaba & Dahab for TDI modules one and two and gained TDI Module 2 certification himself. Now this training can be offered in Aqaba at any time. George is currently in Nepal and joins us for tec diving whenever he gets a chance to visit so he can play with his Pelagian rebreather, of which he is now a proud owner. on the Shorouk wreck and other deep exploration dives in Aqaba.
